Restricted Items Reminders

If you are travelling on a flight operated by Philippine Airlines/ PAL Express, please note that the following items have restrictions when carried as carry-on, checked baggage, or both, by the Civil Aviation Authority.


Philippine Airlines prohibits the carriage of Dangerous goods items or substances that may endanger the aircraft or guests onboard. Please ensure that the requirements of items specified in the list are followed. Depending on the laws and regulations of the relevant country, violation may be subject to legal penalties or fines. 

 

You must declare your hazardous materials to the airline. Failure to comply in all aspects with the applicable dangerous goods regulations is subject to legal penalties. Under Republic Act 6235, any persons violating this law shall be punished by  an imprisonment up to 10 years or by fine of not more than PHP 20,000. 

The following are the restrictions/prohibitions for items to be carried in your checked baggage/carry on:

Alcoholic Beverage

In retail packaging, containing more than 24% up to 70% alcohol by volume, in receptacles not exceeding 5L, total quantity per person is 5L

 

 

 

Non-radioactive medicinal or toilet articles

Such as aerosols, hairsprays, perfumes, colognes and medicines containing alcohol. The total net quantity of these articles must not exceed 2L or 2kg and the net quantity of each single article must not exceed 0.5kg or 0.5 L

 

 

 

Fuels

All types of flammable liquids including lighter refills.

 

  

 

Flammable paints and thinners

Such as oxidizing materials, paint strippers, thinners, etc...

 

 

 

Work tools or small gas-powered engine 
Such as chainsaw, portable generator, etc... 

 

  

Camping stove and fuel container

 

 

 

Chemical and toxic substances 
Such as acids, corrosive batteries, bleaching substances, radioactive material, organic peroxide, infectious or biological hazardous material, etc... ;

 

  

 

Explosives 
Such as flares, fireworks, blasting cap, detonator, fuse grenade, dynamite, plastic explosives torch, lighter, matches, etc.

Note: Only dangerous goods under Class 1—Explosives, Division 1.4S (I.e., ammunition) are acceptable for air carriage

 

 

 

Ammunition, securely packaged (in Div. 1.4S, UN0012 or UN0014 only) 

In quantities not exceeding 5 kg gross weight per person. Allowances for more than one person must not be combined into one or more packages. 

 

 

 

Carbon dioxide, solid (dry ice) 
In quantities not exceeding 2.5 kg net weight per person when used to pack as perishables provided the baggage (package) permits the release of CO2 gas. 

Note: Must be marked "DRY ICE” or “Carbon Dioxide solid” and indicate net weight. 

 

 

  

 

Small non-flammable gas cartridges
Containing CO2 or other suitable gases, up to two (2) small cartridges fitted into a self-inflating personal safety device such as life jacket or vest, not more than 4 cartridges up to 50ml water capacity for other devices. 

 

 

 

 

Oxygen or air, gaseous cylinders  
Required for medical use. The cylinder must not exceed 5kg gross weight. Liquid oxygen systems are forbidden for air transport.

Portable medical electronic devices 
Such as AED, nebulizer, Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) US FAA approved containing lithium metal or lithium-ion cell batteries (Subject to maximum power limits). Philippine Airlines’ Approval is required. 

Watthour rating must not exceed 160 Wh (lithium ion) or 8g (lithium metal)

 

 
 

 

Portable consumer electronic devices 
Such as cameras, mobile phones, laptops, and tablets, with or without batteries. 

Watthour rating must not exceed 160 Wh (lithium ion) or 2g (lithium metal)

 

 

 

 

Cigarettes and E-cigarettes 
Such as tobacco sticks, vape, e-cigar, e-pipe, vape pen, box or vape mods, etc. 

Note: Use of cigarettes and e-cigarettes and recharging them on board the aircraft is NOT permitted. 

 

 

 

Battery powered wheelchairs or other similar mobility devices (w/batteries, non-spillable wet, spillable, or lithium) 

 

 

 

Wheelchairs/Mobility aids with Lithium Batteries: 

a. Ensure that batteries are adequately protected against damage by the design of the mobility aid and securely attached to the wheelchair or mobility aid. The electrical circuits must be isolated following the manufacturer’s instructions; or 

b. Removed from the mobility aid following the manufacturer’s instructions. Each battery removed from the mobility aid must not exceed 300 Wh. 

c. A passenger may carry a maximum of one spare lithium ion battery not exceeding 300 Wh or two spare batteries each not exceeding 160 Wh. 

 

 

Battery powered non-mobility devices 
Such as air wheel (unicycle), solo wheel, hoverboard, mini segway, balance wheel, electric scooter, e-bikes or similar vehicles, with or without batteries 

 

 

 

Magnetized material 
Cover materials with relatively high magnetic field strength such as magnetrons and non-shielded permanent magnets without keeper bars installed 

 

 

 

*Subject to local airport security restrictions on carriage of liquids, aerosols, and gels (LAGs) in cabin baggage.

Note: Batteries must be removed if baggage is to be checked in. Removed batteries must be carried in the cabin.

Note: To convert milliampere hour (mAh) to Wh, multiply mAh by volts and then divide by 1000 (Wh = (mAh × V) ÷ 1000)mAh and volts specifications can be found on your battery or devices.

 

 

 

Warning:  

  • Charging of devices should be made with precautions to avoid overloading and power surge in high thunder areas.  
  • AIl battery-powered wheelchairs or other mobility devices required the approval of Philippine Airlines. 
     
 

 

  Liquids, Aerosols and Gels [LAG]

 

 

  • All LAGs carried must be in containers with a capacity of no more than one hundred milliliters (100ml) each, or its equivalent in other volumetric measurements. LAGs in a container larger than 100ml are unacceptable even if the container is only partially filled. Empty containers with a capacity greater than 100ml are permitted.

 

 

  • Containers holding LAGs are placed in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag with a maximum capacity not exceeding one (1) liter. The indicative size of 1L bag is: 20.5cm x 20.5cm or 25cm x15cm or equivalent. The containers must fit comfortably within the bag and shall be fully closed.

 

 

 

  • Each passenger is permitted to carry ONLY one (1) transparent re-sealable plastic bag of LAGs, which shall be presented separately for screening.
